Fire Inspector

Each year, the Fire Inspector is responsible for conducting fire and safety inspections of all commercial locations within the Village. This includes, but is not limited to businesses, group homes, service stations, home offices, places of assembly and schools. The goal of these inspections is to ensure that a safe condition exists for all building owners, occupants and residents, minimizing the risk of loss of life, injury, and loss of property. This goal is achieved by ensuring that all locations are compliant with the Village of Wesley Hills Fire Prevention Code and the Fire Code of New York State. In addition, proper education is also a key factor in ensuring fire safety. Inspection and prevention go a long way in creating a safe and fire free environment.

In addition to performing fire and safety inspections, the fire inspector is responsible for:

  • Plan review as it pertains to fire codes
  • Enforcing the false fire alarm code
  • Issuance of open burning permits
  • Investigation of all fires within the Village
  • Investigation of all fire code complaints
  • Providing local fire departments with pertinent Village Information
  • Reviewing, inspecting and testing all new fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems
  • Responding 24/7 at the request of the local Fire Chief or Officer
  • Assisting with the Village's Emergency Response Plan
