Fire Safety Information
Each year, the Fire Inspector is responsible for conducting fire and safety inspections of all non one and two family locations within the Village. This includes, but is not limited to businesses, group homes, service stations, home offices, places of assembly and schools. The goal of these inspections is to ensure that a safe condition exists for all building owners, occupants and residents, minimizing the risk of loss of life, injury, and loss of property. This goal is achieved by ensuring that all locations are compliant with the Village of Wesley Hills Fire Prevention Code and the Fire Code of New York State. In addition, proper education is also a key factor in ensuring fire safety. Inspection and prevention go a long way in creating a safe and fire free environment.
In addition to performing fire and safety inspections, the fire inspector is also responsible for:
- Plan review as it pertains to fire codes
- Enforcing the false fire alarm code
- Issuance of open burning permits
- Investigation of all fires within the Village
- Investigation of all fire code complaints
- Providing local fire departments with pertinent Village Information
- Reviewing, inspecting and testing all new fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems
- Responding 24/7 at the request of the local Fire Chief or Officer
- Assisting with the Village's Emergency Response Plan

Indian Point Planning Information
A Message from the Director of Fire and Emergency Services, Gordon Wren, Jr.
It is important that all Rockland residents know how to protect themselves and their families in the event of an emergency at Indian Point. That is why the Rockland County Office of Fire and Emergency Services has teamed up with the New York State Emergency Management Office, Westchester, Orange and Putnam Counties and the operators of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant to prepare a booklet with you in mind.
The booklet, Rockland County, Indian Point Emergency Guide provides vital information on how you can be prepared to respond in the event of an emergency. I encourage you to carefully review this information with your family members and keep this booklet in a familiar place for easy reference. Print copies are available at Village Hall.
The county has a tool that lets you know exactly how far you are away from Indian Point. To access it, please click here.
